Projects & Activities

FRIENDS OF MATAPOURI INCORPORATED (FOM) is involved in many conservation and protection activities. Here are a few:

1. Land care
• Weed and Pest Control
• Pest control (possum) at Matapouri
• Plantings in the 'Gap'
• Raising seedlings of pohutukawa
• Kiwis & Bird life: a day of information will be organised during summer
• Clean-up the rubbish in and around Matapouri estuary and river. See the photos from 2007-2008 Summer cleanup of the beach and estuary.
• Beach and Dunes. Plan to have a day when owners/ visitors can assist with clean up with social event afterwards.
2. Other concerns
• safety of pedestrians and bikes on the roads in summer
