About Friends of Matapouri Inc
PURPOSES OF THE FRIENDS OF MATAPOURI INC. SOCIETY
- To promote the protection of the historical, cultural and natural environment of Matapouri and its associated coastal areas.
- To respect, acknowledge and honour Maori cultural and spiritual associations within Matapouri and its associated areas.
- To represent and promote the interests of the community as they relate to the protection and enhancement of the amenities, and quality of the environment of Matapouri and its associated areas.
- To encourage agencies of National, Regional and Local Authorities to implement and enforce the statutes, plans and by-laws that pertain to, have an impact on or include Matapouri, the Tutukaka Coast and its associated areas and, in particular, Whangarei District Council’s and the Northern Regional Council’s statutory obligations for full and genuine public consultation in all matters that affect the Matapouri community and its environment.
- To encourage the efficient, effective and economical provision of public services and utilities by local, regional and national service providers.
- To raise funds by means of subscriptions, donations, bequests, and grants and any other legal means for the prosecution or furtherance of the aims of the society.
